The importance of setting a goal for anything you do is very important. When it come to exercise I do this by targeting specific events that I will do and exercise towards those events. For example, I do a lot of cycling and pick two or three longer rides each year to train for. The rides are spaced out across the year so I have to keep training in order to do well in all of the rides. It works great and helps me get through all of those dark cold Winter days when I am stuck inside on the trainer.

That is very true! In fact, I'm trying to start running a mile a day. Two weeks ago I ran a mile everyday, but I fizzled out last week. Its hard to keep your motivation up there.

So I decided to make a goal to run a marathon in about a year. Hopefully that motivation will keep me running.

Great post.
